The Friends of Syresham School is run by a committee of parents who work throughout the year organising activities for the children and fund-raising events that involve the whole school and the wider community.
There are two main fundraising events organised by the Friends: a Christmas Fayre and the May Date Fete. At both events there are a variety of stalls run by parents, members of the village and small local businesses. The children enjoy an active role in these events, from visiting Father Christmas to taking part in the traditional May Pole Dancing.
The money raised from such events greatly enhances the learning environment for the children at our school. Over the years the Friends have purchased many extra items including the lighting in Eddie’s Hall, the stage, the seating in the library, a large proportion of the timber trail, the picnic benches and more recently a large gazebo and an electric piano.
The elected committee and its members work hard throughout the year to host fun and varied events, but it has to be said that success relies heavily on the goodwill of parents, teachers, villagers and local businesses, for which the Friends are very grateful.
The Friends of Syresham School are always happy to welcome newcomers, whether volunteering to help on a stall, baking a cake, donating or by getting more involved in the committee. We are a friendly, informal bunch who try and keep things easy going and sociable.
